Biography:
Hello, I’m Beth Crosland. As an attorney I work hard to help my adult clients solve personal legal issues, and as an Attorney Guardian Ad Litem (GAL) for children, I strive to understand each child’s unique circumstances and safety needs to give them a voice in the court system. As an attorney, I concentrate in the areas of family law and child welfare law. My family law practice takes up the majority of my time, and includes divorce, dissolution, termination of domestic partnerships, child support, spousal support, custody, domestic violence, and GAL appointments.
I began working in the legal field as a paralegal in 2006, and then after completing college and law school, I became an attorney in 2015. I have now practiced family and child welfare law in three different states, helping clients navigate difficult transitions and disputes involving what is most precious to them, all while raising my own children as a single parent. My personal and professional experience combine working to my clients’ advantage in resolving conflict, thinking outside the box, and planning around future problems. Having been there myself and helped numerous others navigate family court, I am uniquely qualified to relate to my clients, to educate them, and to vigorously advocate for them in court proceedings.
My child welfare law practice is concentrated in child protection cases from emergency removal hearings to temporary custody, adjudication, disposition, termination of parental rights, guardianship, and adoption hearings. Typically, this means I represent parents in defense of their custodial or parenting rights against a governmental child protection agency, or I get involved as an attorney for other interested individuals, such as grandparents, in gaining custody of system-involved children. I gained significant experience in this area of law representing a child protection agency for six years prior to relocating to Ohio, and in working full time for the Hamilton County Public Defender’s Office as a GAL for children for fourteen months. My Child Welfare Law Specialist certification, earned in January 2023, is a nationally recognized testament to the specialized knowledge, skill, and demonstrated expertise I have gained in child welfare law.
