Mr. Scott Brooks, Senior Paralegal
College: American Institute For Paralegal Studies, Certificate, 1987
In Memoriam:
Scott M. Brooks, January 16, 1963 – January 19, 2022
Originally from Canton, Ohio, Scott was born to Dean and Eileen (Rosia) Brooks who preceded him in death. Scott served in the Ohio National Guard throughout college. He relocated to Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1988. In 1990, Scott began working for Cathy R. Cook, Esq. where he served for over 31 years as her senior paralegal. Scott brought a warmth and humor to his work with numerous judges, magistrates, court personnel, attorneys, and countless clients. His financial savvy, attention to detail, and warm and engaging personality made him the perfect right-hand to Cathy and Ethan and an asset to each and every case.
Scott was a lifelong Browns, Indians, Kansas City Chiefs, and UC Bearcats fan. Ask him how he was doing, and his answer was based on who was winning or losing that week.
He was a Truth student and member at New Thought Unity Center for almost 20 years. He took many classes and participated in many book studies there over the years and most often found peace. He ran sound in the sound booth for all services and events for over 8 years as a volunteer.
He is survived by his beloved daughter, Emma Brooks, with whom he was best friends, his faithful dog, Walter, with whom he explored parks and dog parks all over Cincinnati, and his favorite ex-wife, Peggy Weyand. Even divorce couldn’t tear this family apart as they remained a family unit till the end. He will be missed by many friends and colleagues.
