Relocation of Children

Can I or the other parent remove our children from Ohio?

The relocation of children is one of the most difficult issues in a mobile society. While a parent can move wherever they wish, the court must decide if taking the children is in their best interest or if they should remain with the other parent. There are a number of factors the court reviews, including the children’s relationship with each parent, extended family, friends, school, and the community.

How will parenting time be affected if the children are moved from Ohio?

Generally, the parent remaining in Ohio will have the children for holidays, off days from school, and extended time in the summer. As the other parent is the one who moved, that parent generally has to pay the travel expenses for the children.
